Made a reservation a few months ago and finally got to dine here. The restaurant is opened five days per week with only one session per night for six guests. The menu is a kaiseki Japanese course which changes with each season, consisting of about a dozen dishes including desserts. From the aesthetics, ambience, presentation and service, it definitely felt like the most authentic and traditional Japanese dining experience you can get here. The three hours dining did not felt long as it was mesmerising to watch as Chef Tomotaka quietly and skillfully prepare each dish with precision; everything he does serves a purpose with no waste. The food was beautifully plated with attention to detail and the chef provided a personalised experience by explaining the dishes and the ingredients to each guest as it is being served. Everything I had were very tasty; flavours and textures were well balanced, nothing was overpowering or overcooked, and you can taste the freshness of the ingredients. Nice to see some native ingredients such as ice plant and finger lime incorporated in the menu. Highlight was the wagyu sukiyaki; did not think it would impress me this much after eating so many different wagyu dishes but it was cooked perfectly tender and served as a thick cut which provided a satisfying meaty bite with what felt like an endless flow of meat juice. Overall it was a great dining experience; the kaiseki course was delicious and satisfying and both Chef Tomotaka and the staff were polite and friendly.

We have been fortunate to experience chef Ishizuka's food over the years at 3 locations and he still wowed us with a refreshing inventive spring menu. Amazing textures, colours, and finesse in his technique to showcase the ingredients' natural flavours.

The most exclusive kaiseki experience in Melbourne. Every course was beautifully crafted with premium ingredients, and watching Chef Tomo at work felt like a performance โ€” you can truly see the passion in his eyes. Itโ€™s like youโ€™ve travelled to Japan without leaving Melbourne! Canโ€™t recommend it enough and would want to return for every special occasion. My experience was in early 2025 so reference photos are not current. Eager to try it again next time! Tomo is an excellent Japanese chef, with every dish curated to perfection. No fault in my opinion and is my most recommended Japanese place in Melbourne so far. Thanks again to Tomo San and the team, and hope to return soon!
