Absolutely unbelievable staff. Power went out and rather than panicking, they came up with calm and composed decisions to ensure everyone still had a great night. Was great watching the manager keep all the staff calm and on the same page. Well done. We will definitely be repeat customers

I am regularly in Ballarat for work and stay at Quest and was recommended to North Star Hotel by one of the Quest Team Members. Having had about 8 meals there now, its consistently fantastic the steak is always cooked to perfection and the wine list is amazing. Staff are always welcoming and extremely accommodating. A fantastic place to get a lovely meal after a long day at work. Love how its a 30 second walk from Quest making it a great option always regardless of weather. Recommend highly.

Dined on a Sat night at 6pm. Crowd behind the bar looks decent size, pass through the bar to get to the dining area, was hoping to be seated at ground floor where the indoor tree was (better vibes), however was led to the level above which wasnt too bad either. Food was served in an acceptable time frame. Ordered parma (chicken was too dry), roasted duck breast (mediocre), crumbed cauliflower (very bland), seasonal veg (bland, no seasoning) (my guess it was frozen veg as it doesn't have that natural sweetness to it). On the other hand, service was good, waitstaff came twice to check in on us.

Booked online last minute for something close by, don't regret it at all! The Dining area is cozy and inviting, the hotels history on the walls is interesting and the food was great. It was also great to see a good variety of wines available.

Had the fish n chips, calamari n chips and steak and chips. The steak and chips was ok. I think the cut let down the steak. It had a few too many gristle. Some bites were nice and tender and others were tough and chewy. It was cooked to order....medium/well done and slightly pink inside. The fish and chips was not chewy. The fish just broke down. I have tried a few fish n chips at restaurants in Ballarat but none can get that nice chewy fish texture. Wonder why. The calamari was nice.
