Went to The Italian Place for lunch, not too busy for a Wednesday. Had the Octopus Salad for entree, new on the menu - medallions of octopus leg thinly sliced with green olives, cucumber cubes and other additions in a very flavourful sauce with a touch of lemon - yum - followed by the snapper in a Bagna Cauda Sauce. Hubby had the stuffed zucchini flowers for entree followed by the Duck Ragu with Pappardelle pasta, with generous serve of duck pieces and definitely one for soaking up the sauce with your free serve of bread (just like in Italy). Dessert was shared - Ricotta Pistachio Cannoli with black cherry and melt-in-the-mouth Tiramisu. We come here every 3 months when the seasonal menu changes and never disappointed. Great service and fantastic food!

Full review: Kenlo_hk This comment is based on my experience compared with other Italian restaurants Iโ€™ve tried in Canberra. The squid ink linguine was the highlight with great flavour, but the beef (ordered mediumโ€‘well) and the fish were overcooked, and the sauces felt a bit light. The tiramisu came in a generous portion, though the taste wasnโ€™t particularly memorable. Service was friendly, and the waiter was proactive in asking for feedback. Overall, compared with other Italian options in Canberra, it felt slightly below expectations, and the price is on the higher side without a discount. If the restaurant is looking to improve, Iโ€™d recommend trying other Italian spots for comparison and inspiration. Can provide name if required. Thanks the team for the service!

Service and Atmosphere is normal, but food is too bad, their duck pasta is the worst, taste too fishy smell, the lobster pasta the same not good. And we asked for three time and wait almost 30 minutes for just a tiramisu.

Itโ€™s a little bit overpriced even we already used discount. Dessert is good but the main meal is hard to say. My friend like it but I donโ€™t like too much. At least the taste is not surprised me. Fish is not fresh and its meat is hard because they used snapper???no taste inside. As the menu will be changed seasonally, itโ€™s hard to find some suggestions from other reviewers. If you are looking for a real Italian meal please go to the Italy directly. This place is for an adventure.

We had the pleasure of enjoying our last September dinner in Canberra at The Italian Place Enoteca. We have consistently found that restaurants on Mort Street are of high quality. We appreciated the crusty bread served with balsamic vinegar and olive oil, and also enjoyed their Sarde in carpione (fried sardines, macerated with pickled mixed vegetables, and olive oil). However, we were not entirely impressed with their Ravioli al Granchio (Fennel and blue swimmer crab house-made ravioli, crab bisque, Avruga caviar, chives). Their pannacotta with mixed berries compote was delicious. We celebrated our successes in Canberra, toasting each other with cocktails: loved the Barrel Aged Negroni, which paired perfectly with seafood. I concluded with an Espresso cocktail.
