You could go somewhere that does packet pasta and get twice as much for half the cost, but you would miss the experience of this top-shelf house-made product with terrific service and an exceptional dessert.

We had a great time dining here during our stay in Hobart from Sydney. The staff are super friendly. The food was wonderful and at affordable prices. The restaurant has a seperate vegan menu where John makes his own vegan pasta in-house, perfect for us! The restaurant is humble and non-pretentious. You can tell the business has been loved and cared for by the family and the community. Looking forward to dine here whenever we stop by Hobart again!

Ottimo Ristorante Italiano in Hobart is a true hidden gem, but. I recently dined there with five others and I was genuinely impressed. Service was a standout: fun, engaging and attentive throughout. We started with two large garlic pizzas for the table, packed with flavour and a great way to begin the meal. For my main, I had the BBQ chicken pizza, which came generously topped and full of taste. What really stood out was the drink service. Our server was attentive and proactive, checking in just as drinks were running low, a detail many places overlook. It’s clear Ottimo values the full dining experience, including encouraging guests to relax and enjoy their drinks. I originally thought 5 stars but when we looked at the bill, we noticed a Sunday surcharge that was not mentioned at any point. Might be on the back of the menu, not sure. So, our bill had $37.34 surcharge added. There was also a $20 discrepancy between the sub total and the total sale amount, guessing this was a mandatory tip? I understand why there are surcharges, but to not make it clear when booking, ordering is a reason not to return for me. This is just my experience and in no way suggests these surcharges and mandatory tips are not displayed somewhere within the restaurant, I just did not see them.

One of the best food experiences we have had in a while. What was evident was the freshness in the ingredients, be it pasta or the Margherita Pizza that we had. They offered to serve the vegan Spaghetti bolognaise that they were trialling and it was one of the best pasta that I have had. Anny, who took care of us that night was one of the best hosts. The chef personally came and had a chat which shows their genuine love to cook great food and making sure to check with the guests. An experience to remember for our family. Will visit this place every time I am in Hobart. Why would I miss being treated like a king!! Cherry on top- they serve vegan and vegetarian options.

My fiance and I enjoyed a beautiful meal on Valentines night. Annie as per usual was so attentive. We were extremely lucky to get a table due to a cancellation. NOTE: I highly recommend booking. The place was packed and still more people wanted to dine in. Annie did extremely well trying to accommodate everyone with different options, she is amazing. Our food was just delicious, mains followed by a treat of dessert. Ottimo never fails to please. Highest recommendations.
