We went out to North Britian hotel tonight. Found out I am borderline anemic (again) and can't find calves liver anywhere in Ballarat! I've never tried lambs fry (lamb liver) and I don't want to buy it and cook it if I don't like it so Robert ordered it so I could have a taste. No thank you - Still don't like lamb of any sort! Robert like it, but it's not for me. I liked the North Britian Hotel, and the food was great! I had garlic prawns - yum. Allergic to watermellon and cucumber and they made my salad special! Cappuccino was great and the Death by Chocolate - yum! The owner, Pete, is a very pleasant bloke and I enjoyed having a chat with him! The music was spot on (the right era for us, the right volume, etc), and we had a pleasant evening. We'll go back another time for live music - I might even try and get a job here! Good, friendly homestyle pub!
Fantastic Food, fresh and hot, yum, can't deal with non hot food, for food that is meant to be hot, more on the more expensive side if you base it on pubs but its more like a restaraunt, quality and atmosphere wise but worth every cent, best non waygu steak ive had in a while, garlic bread was so fresh, and not overly buttery more on the garlic side, which is a big win for me, yum Oysters kilpatrick spot on ratio and big too, yum, brochetta not like a traditonal one, but so good, and refreshing, 3 entrees shared between 3 of us, trying a bit of each, hubby & I had the steak with chips and salad, with the pepper & red wine gravy, the chips with that sauce so good, steak was so tasty and juicy, good sear too, didn't need to add any salt and pepper to the steak or chips, i normally do have to but with that gravy it was perfect ๐๐ and the salad was so fresh and more variety then most places and yummy coleslaw, very fresh, and different then most coleslaws yum, and love that they serve the salads in a bowl so the chips dont go soggy and the meat juices dont go into the salad, little one had the rissoles, not normally into them, but i tried a bit, they were lovely juicy, lots of flavour and 3 huge ones, the onion gravy was really nice, however i liked it more with my gravy as well as the onion gravy. Very nice atmosphere, very friendly staff, all over cant fault the night, not sure if i had a favourite part, all yummy, we will be back, 3 entrees, 3 mains, 5 drinks around the $230 mark, 1 of those being alcohol, works out under $80 each roughly for that quality and everything we ordered that is great,
Excellent place for good food. Very varied specials board. Can get busy when the musicians are playing. And the restaurant is warm inside which in Ballarat makes a difference.
Just a good ole typical Aussie pub with a great menu including one of my favourites Crumbed Brainsโฆnot for everyone but plenty of other dishes for the less adventurous! Next visit Iโll try the Lambs Fry another classic thatโs harder and harder to find. Goodonya Nth Britain.
Good food, great service, and a really nice atmosphere. Peter and his crew made us feel welcome, and even though they were packed, they still managed to fit us in. Highly recommend! ๐๐๐
