The peking duck is is by far the best we have had in Gold Coast. It is reasonably priced and unlike other restaurants, Charlie Men's Kitchen actually serves you the whole duck with lots of meat! The flavour was delicious and the skin crispy. The food is very authentic, well-priced and service was excellent with friendly staff. We will be back again for sure! Bonus is free parking right out front.
Would give 0 star if I could. Went there, waited for 25 minutes for a table to set up (yep there were plenty of them) asked prior if they have the Peking duck, some guy from the kitchen came out and said it is freshly made and needs about 45mins wait, since I was already there, we were like ok we can wait. Finally sat down after stood at their reception for 25mins. Checked with the waitress if the Peking duck order has been placed. Told us it won’t be ordered until we actually sat down. Went into the kitchen and came back to told us the duck was sold out. SUPER DISAPPOINTED AND RIDICULOUS SERVICE THAT WASTED HALF AN HOUR OF MY TIME. Poor communication, won’t comeback and never again. Walked away immediately, really poor management. Would definitely not recommend.
We traveled here and had SUPERB roast Beijing Duck, and duck soup is a must try, easily hands down the best Beijing Roast Duck cuisine in Australia. There was once an equivalent in Sydney but now Chef Men’s Duck definitely ranks the 1st not gonna lie. We only ordered a few other dishes today and all were amazing, the fried fish is finger licking and the jellyfish cold dish brought me back 20 years ago, authentic and savory. All dishes are cooked, in my opinion, 1980s old school Beijing/Northern China style. The restaurant is decorated with fresh flowers and you can see the chef and the female boss really cherished their restaurant, and this is so valuable in these days Chinese restaurants in Australia. Such a gem! I wish their business wealthy and prosperous in Loong Year.
The Peking Duck is the best we eaten in my life. This is my first visit and I still crave the excellent spread! The crispy and fragrant duck was money well spent! The other food, well marinated and fresh, was a fantastic spread too. The service was homely though reservation must be made as they do not accept walk-ins.
This is the best northern China roast duck I've ever had in Queensland. Be sure to book in advance! ! ! ! ! There are not many employees in this restaurant, only 1 chef and 3 waiters. This is because the chef does not trust other chefs, resulting in a decline in the quality of the dishes. In order to ensure the quality of the dishes, the chef made the serving speed a little slow. The chef is very friendly, after talking to know that he used to be a very well-known chef in the Chinese restaurant industry.
