We had a fantastic experience at this Italian restaurant while celebrating my birthday. As an Italian, itโ€™s often difficult for me to find a restaurant that truly meets my food expectations, but this one absolutely did. The service was impeccable, the staff incredibly attentive, and the owner was especially kind. The focaccia and pasta (cacio e pepe) were outstanding. We felt truly welcomed and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!

Came in for dinner NYE, staff and management were wonderful. I had one of the best spins on an Espresso Martini I've ever had. The Burrata was refreshing and our party had a variety of the pastas which were perfectly portioned and fresh.

Stunning venue. Amazing Italian food and impressive table service. Perfect, formally set tables, choice of international wines and a long cocktail menu. Courtyard dining available as well. Clearly a favourite with locals. Booking is recommended. The seafood was to die for. I'm even giving the rosemary salted fries 5 stars.

Bar Monte Newstead: A Brilliant Italian Gem in the Heart of Newstead Bar Monte, nestled on Longland Street in Newstead, is a delightful new addition to the area, offering an elevated take on local Italian cuisine. From the moment you step inside, the restaurant exudes a cool, vibrant atmosphere, walls lined with bottles of limoncello and eye-catching hanging lights set the stage for a memorable dining experience. However, it can get a bit noisy, which made conversation slightly challenging during our visit on a busy Sunday night. The service was exceptional from start to finish. We were warmly greeted upon arrival, and our menus were promptly offered as we were seated. We kicked things off with cocktails, and although drink service was a little slower than expected, likely due to the bar being quite busy, it was clear the bartenders were doing their best to keep up. For starters, we had the scallops with charred corn puree and crispy potato sticks. The scallops were perfectly cooked, their delicate sweetness balanced by the smoky corn puree and the satisfying crunch of the potato sticks. It was a well-composed dish that set the tone for the rest of the meal. We also tried the beef carpaccio with truffle mayonnaise, capers, and Reggiano. This dish was nothing short of sublime. The beef was sliced wafer-thin, melting in your mouth with each bite, while the truffle mayo added a luxurious richness, and the capers gave a sharp contrast. The only small thing I would suggest is a touch of fresh cracked pepper to elevate the flavours further, but that's a minor quibble. For mains, we opted for the market fish, which came with Jerusalem artichoke, white anchovies, and parsley salsa. The fish was beautifully cooked, fresh, and light, with each componentโ€”particularly the anchovies and salsa, perfectly complementing the delicate flavours of the fish. While the presentation could have been a little more polished, the dish itself was a standout. We also ordered a side of broccolini, which was seasoned just right and still had a lovely bite to it. Dessert was the grand finale: a lemon and raspberry tart. The tart's tangy lemon curd paired perfectly with the fresh raspberries, while the torched meringue added just the right touch of sweetness. It was a refreshing and satisfying end to an already fantastic meal. All in all, Bar Monte delivered an impressive dining experience with food that was both delicious and thoughtfully executed. Iโ€™ll definitely be returning soon to try more of their menu. Highly recommend!

This is my favourite spot in Brisbane! Youโ€™ll be spoiled for choice on the menu, where everything is a hit. I highly recommend choosing a bunch of everything and sharing so no one gets food envy. You can thank me later! The vibe is sophisticated, yet warm and inviting. The food is quality, filling and full of flavour. The service is attentive, and the drinks and wine list are impressive. Drawback: Bar Monte will make you want to book the next flight to Italyโ€ฆbut then again, how bad can that really be?
