Visited after seeing its very high Google rating, but the experience didnโt quite live up to the hype. ๐ฅ Focaccia with Duck Parfait The focaccia was pleasant, airy rather than chewy, though some parts were overly grilled and burnt like most other dishes. The duck parfait was unfortunately a miss. It was made with blue cheese, which completely overpowered the duck liver, making it unpleasant, almost rotten, garbage like aroma amplifying the metallic, bloody notes of the liver. ๐ค Prawns, Avocado & Rocket An acceptable dish, but the combination didnโt fully work for me. The sesame oil overpowered the prawns, and this dish was overly salty, masking the natural sweetness of the prawns. ๐ผ Zucchini Flower Stuffed with Cheeses The star of the night. Well balanced, light, and thoughtful. The shrimp-based sauce was savoury, full of umami, and complemented the dish beautifully. ๐ Grilled Octopus with Mashed Potato The octopus was slightly overcooked, especially at the ends which were hard and rubbery. Some parts were burnt rather than nicely charred. Overall, the dish including the mash was very salty. ๐ฅฉ Black Angus mb3 Sirloin with Red Wine Jus Cooked exactly to the medium we ordered. However, the red wine jus was extremely salty, almost soy sauce-like, and dominated the beef. Given the marbling, medium rare would be a better choice (our mistake ordering medium). ๐งโ๐ณ Service Service was inattentive at the beginning despite they only had a handful of tables, we waited a while for menus and water. That said, staff were polite and attentive afterwards. When we mentioned the saltiness, the manager kindly offered a complimentary dessert, which we appreciated but didnโt take the offer.
Nice food but nothing special. Staff were very rushed and transactional. We had to flag down a waiter to order. The butter option for the steak is not good at all. Very oily and greasy. The steak was better without it. Not bad but nothing Iโm dying to go back to.
If I had a choice to eat out every night this would be the spot! The ambience in Bar Leo sets a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. The food is divine and the wine selection is vast. To top it off the owners welcome all their customers and their staff are amazing:) Love this hidden gem!!
The vibe? Immaculate. The staff? On point. The food? Next level ๐ Lost count how many times weโve been here. Them damn brussels sprouts keep me coming back & I donโt even like brussels sprouts ๐คฃ Was packed last night yet the service was so attentive. Big thanks to Alana for the warm welcome & chef Jai for cooking our steaks to perfection ๐๐ฝ
I celebrated my birthday here thanks to my partnerโs surprise, and it honestly couldnโt have been more perfect. The atmosphere was beautiful, the food was absolutely amazing, and every single dish exceeded our expectations. What really made the night special was the staff โ so friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They made us feel celebrated and looked after from start to finish. It was the perfect spot for such a special occasion, and Iโll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!
