⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An unforgettable Christmas Eve date night – one of Melbourne’s best steakhouses! We dined at A Hereford Beefstouw in the heart of Melbourne CBD on Flinders Lane on Christmas Eve for a date night, and from the very moment we arrived, the experience was exceptional. We were generously greeted by the manager, who personally took us to our seats. The atmosphere was absolutely perfect — cozy, warm, and that classic steakhouse vibe you hope for. My boyfriend took me to this restaurant for a surprise dinner. The setting of this place is trendy and chic. The service staffs are informative and polite. We were not that hungry so didn’t order the steak on the bone range. From what we’ve ordered the meat cooked to perfect. Thanks my man for the unforgettable night.
The open kitchen was a fantastic touch, watching the chefs cook everything in front of you really adds to the experience. As soon as you walk in and get seated, the aroma alone sets the tone for an incredible night of high-quality food. We ordered two starters, two mains, three sides, and two cocktails, and every single item was outstanding. Starters: We began with the dry-aged beef tartare, and wow — this completely changed my opinion on raw beef. It was incredibly well seasoned and prepared to the point where you wouldn’t even realise it was raw. Mixed with the egg yolk and paired with the sourdough crackers, it was easily one of the best starters I’ve ever had and one of the best bites of the night. The second starter was half a dozen natural Kilpatrick oysters — exceptionally fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. Highly recommended. Cocktails: We had a lychee mojito and a strawberry mojito. Both were refreshing, perfectly balanced, and very well made — a great way to kick off the mains. Mains: For steaks, I ordered the 45-day dry-aged ribeye on the bone, while my partner had the New York sirloin on the bone. When the steaks arrived, they were visually stunning and smelled incredible. Both were cooked exactly as requested — mine medium and my partner’s medium-rare — tender, juicy, and seasoned beautifully. The flavour of the dry-aged beef was outstanding. This is easily one of the greatest steakhouses in Melbourne, and for both quality and value for money, they truly deliver. Sides: We ordered a caprese salad, beer-battered steak fries, and a rack of beef ribs. While everything was excellent, the beef ribs completely stole the show. They were unbelievably tender, packed with flavour, and honestly one of the best dishes of the night — which says a lot considering how incredible everything else was. Dessert: To finish, we each had a crème brûlée with vanilla bean ice cream. The brûlée was torched to perfection, and the custard tasted incredibly fresh and high quality — you could taste every component. Paired with the homemade vanilla bean ice cream, it was the perfect ending to an amazing meal. From start to finish, everything was flawless. The service was fantastic — attentive, friendly, and professional — and we enjoyed every single moment. I truly cannot recommend A Hereford Beefstouw enough. We will absolutely be back!
A nice place to have a get together. The entree, desserts were great. Even the barramundi was soft and nice. Sadly the steak was not great ie not much flavour or taste on its own. Didn't give me the urge to go back for seconds.meat was quite dry.
The best steak ever! We enjoyed 45-day dried-aged beef (ribeye on the bone), 700 g, and two racks of slow-cooked beef ribs—really nice taste, vibe, environment and service.
